Final payment is due approximately 2 weeks after the close of registration. The total trip cost must be paid before the final payment due date or UUPCC retains the right to cancel your registration.
If you cancel up to 60 days prior to the start of the pilgrimage, your entire payment will be refunded, (less registration fee, and any non-recoverable transportation costs).

If you cancel 60 - 30 days prior to the start of the pilgrimage, you will receive a 50% refund of your total payment (less registration fee).

If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the start of the pilgrimage, you will receive NO REFUND.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:  We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes trip cancelation insurance as well as medical evacuation insurance. There are many companies that offer this insurance such as Travel Guard and TravelSafe. Before purchasing, use a web-based service such as squaremouth.com or insurermytrip.com to read reviews and compare plans.

MOBILITY, MEDICAL AND DIETARY RESTRICTIONS ADVISORIES
Our pilgrimages will take you far from home and into a new environment. If you have mobility, medical and/or dietary concerns that you manage easily at home, you may find them challenging on a trip like this. Here's some information to help you decide if this type of trip works for you.

MOBILITY CONCERNS:
Eastern & Central Europe in general and Romania in particular can be difficult to navigate for people with moderate to severe mobility issues. This also applies to all trips in the Philippines and Northeast India. Entire sections (typically the most tourist-focused) of some cities such as Budapest, Prague, and Vienna are closed to motorized traffic. Many streets are cobblestone or gravel, and sidewalks are broken and uneven. Some of the hotels we use do not have elevators and none of the B&Bs, dorms and guesthouses have them. Many of the castles (Peles, Bran & Vadjahunyad), walled citadels (Sighisoara), and fortress churches (Biertan) are built on many levels and are often located on hilltops which require an uphill walk of 5-10 minutes to reach. UUPCC Pilgrimage trips to Romania are rated on the ‘Road Scholar’ scale at 3-4 depending upon your specific group’s itinerary.

All travelers must be able to:

Walk for 30 minutes unassisted.

Climb 2 flights of stairs.

Use local transport -- and get into and out of a bus or van on your own.

Carry your own luggage.
Wheelchairs and rolling walkers will not work on these trips. Canes or walking sticks are ok if you can meet the above requirements.  To sit when the group stops, bring a cane that doubles as a folding stool.

If you are not sure that you are up to the trip after reading this section, please contact your group organizer or contact the UUPCC Travel Coordinator at travel@uupcc.org.

MEDICAL CONCERNS:
Many of the drugs, treatments, and standards of care that we take for granted in North America are unavailable on these trips.  In addition to not having access to the same level of medical care as in North America, treatment and care might be located far away from where you will be.
Travelers should:

-Be in good overall health

-Bring any needed over-the-counter and prescriptions medications. (refrigeration will not be available)

-Be able to manage allergies to foods and/or the environment.

DIETARY CONCERNS

Romania, Northeast India and the Philippines have diets that are heavy in meat, grains, and/or dairy. Gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan diets can be difficult to accommodate! If you have a dietary restriction that is significantly threatening to your health, please consider not registering for this pilgrimage.

If you have dietary needs that are not significantly threatening to your health, our pilgrimages may work for you.  During registration, please be very specific in describing your dietary restrictions and needs so we can evaluate our ability to help you meet your dietary needs. We need to have a clear and comprehensive understanding so we can give you an honest assessment of whether the pilgrimage will work for you, and so we are able to plan well in advance to accommodate your needs. We cannot accommodate dietary restrictions and needs that we don’t know about in advance.

BE SAFE!  CONSIDER A DIFFERENT TYPE OF TRIP IF YOU:

-Cannot meet the physical requirements listed above,

-Have heart or other medical concerns that may require rapid treatment,

-Have serious medical problems that require medication to be refrigerated,

-Have severe allergic reactions to common foods or environmental conditions (dust, straw...), or

-Have a very restricted medical diet or are not willing to flex on a non-medical diet.

Don't take a chance! If you have any mobility or medical concerns, please email the UUPCC Travel Coordinator at travel@uupcc.org for clarification before you register.

Please check the box below indicating you have read and agree to the trip cancellation policy and the mobility/medical/dietary restrictions advisory.
